New Orleans Mint to S.S. Republic To a Shipwreck.
This 1859 O Seated Liberty half dollar was struck before the start of the Civil War at the famous New Orleans Mint. This one is a die error resulted in the double striking of the numeral 1 into the coin. The upper right hazy area on front of coin is from the salt water dulling the sheen in that area. No pitting, just a dulling.
